What do live-in carers do?
Live-in help our clients to complete a wide range of everyday tasks, enabling them to continue to living independently for as long as possible.

As a live-in carer, you will…
• Manage medical conditions such as spinal injury, dementia, stroke and incontinence
• Support with bathing, dressing and toileting
• Support with incontinence care
• Administer medication
• Prepare meals and wash dishes
• Complete household chores such as laundry, ironing, dusting and hoovering
• Offer mobility support around the home
• Run errands
• Feed, walk and care for a pet
• Support client to be out and about in the community (for shopping, appointments)
• Provide emotional support
• Provide companionship and most importantly, be a friend to your client

Domiciliary care jobs

What do domiciliary carers do?
Domiciliary carers help our clients to complete a wide range of everyday tasks, enabling them to continue living independently for as long as possible.

As a domiciliary carer, you will…
• Support with incontinence care
• Administer medication

You will earn a market-leading rate of £10–£11 per hour, and an enhanced rate for bank holidays throughout the year

Training & Support

From the very first day of training week, you’ll be welcomed into a community of caring people dedicated to providing you with everything you need to carry out your role to the highest standard.
 
Taking care of you
Wherever your placement takes you, support will always be available. You will have 24/7 access to the case management team who are on hand to offer guidance and advice whenever you need it.
 
We ask all of our carers to write a personal profile upon employment. Wherever possible, we use this profile to place you with a client who shares your hobbies & interests. This will help you to bond more quickly with your client and to really enjoy the work that you do.
 
Training and assessment week
Our in-depth 5-day training programme gives you the tools, skills and mindset you need to deliver excellent care to our clients.
 
You’ll be taught the Care Certificate and other mandatory training, using classroom-style teaching, and there will also be mandatory e-learning modules to complete in the evenings.
 
The training and assessment week ensures you are taught all live-in care skills and care techniques, and gain the knowledge needed, to enable our clients to live well and safely at home.
 
Once you have passed our training and assessment week and are ready to be placed in work, you will be fully supported by your case manager. Observation assessments will be carried out in order to check your competence against relevant standards.

Your Development...

Throughout your career with 1st 4 Healthcare, there will be many opportunities for personal and professional development.

These will be driven by you and your case manager, who will be able to identify your training needs through regular supervision with you.

Qualifications

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Care
